Here are some MP3's of Gramps, Dad's and The Petts old reel to reel tapes.
To play the files click on the links and this should open your default audio player (probably Windows Media Player). (For the techies amongst you, you will see that the files appear to be .wav but are in fact mp3 files this is to make them open in the default audio player rather then something like QuickTime which doesn't always handle things very well).
To save the files simply right click on the links and choose 'Save Target As...'
...they will be bring back many memories of times gone by when things were a bit different from now and Mum & Dad were still learning how to deal with their kids (this will strike a chord with some of you no doubt). Also remember Gramps had stolen the Crown Jewels and hidden them (listen to my 6th(?) birthday party tape 1 to find out where), Andrew and Liz crying as babies, the cuckoo clock chiming in the back ground and some old BBC TV programmes Dad recorded etc.
The files are quite large so will take sometime to down load, the largest is 42Mb Die Fledermaus, however most are between 3-12Mb. The quality of some of the recordings is not good, even though I have cleaned them up as much as I can.
If you have any more detail about when, where and why some of the tapes were recorded do let me know so that I can add the details to the recordings.
