Next we drove down to Monterey which was the first part of our drive down Highway 1, the scenic coastal route to Los Angeles. This took us via the Redwoods at Muir Woods just outside San Francisco and the next morning we explored the largest Aquarium in the US and then drove down to Cambria via Carmel and Big Sur.
After a night in Cambria we visited Hearst Castle and continued down to Santa Barbara.
