Gareth's family were off to Southern Ireland for a holiday so we tagged along with the for 5 days. Dinner on the first evening in our hotel in Cork...
Next day it was a drive to Bantry House and the on round the coast to the most south westerly tip of Ireland and the light house and rounded off with a stone circle...
Next was a day of rest and reading with dinner out in Cork...
OK, you are in Ireland, you have to kiss the Blarney Stone (still not sure why) so it was off to Blarney Castle...
Ireland was neutral during the war, but was the centre of a civilian flying boat operation in Foynes which assisted with troop movement and top brass from and to the USA. We also took to the water on a ferry and did a little shopping in Ennis, followed by a great dinner at the Town Hall Cafe.
And finally Bunratty Castle...
A great break, just what we both needed.
Thanks Mark & Phyllis for organising us!
