South of France - October 2003

Our friends Lance and James moved down to the South of France about three years ago and opened a guest house (www.thelotustree.com).  This year they wanted to go on holiday and asked for volunteers to look after the place whilst they went to Turkey.  Well it was a difficult choice!  Along with Richard and Guy (friend from Norfolk) we looked after their dog Frankie and also had a great time relaxing and exploring.

We also tried a bit of horse riding.....

We took Lance and James to the airport and then had a look around Aix-En-Provence....

Also had a look at some local caves which have had EU funding to allow visitors to easily see about a 5th of the total caves in the area.... (www.orgnac.com)

More exploring this time joined by Richard and Guy....

And finally on the way to get the train back to the UK, a trip to the Roman Aqueduct at Pont du Gard, which is the most amazing piece of construction considering it was built 2000 years ago....(BBC info about Pont du Gard)

Finally a little video of the trip down to Avignon and our horse riding...
